Paul Reed Smith had introduced a new guitar pedal called the "Mary Cries Optical Compressor" as a part of their expanding line of guitar pedals. This pedal was designed in collaboration with John Mayer, a renowned guitarist and PRS artist. The "Mary Cries" compressor is named after Mayer's song "Queen of California." The PRS Mary Cries optical compressor pedal is intuitive and sounds incredible. Based on the storied LA-2A, Mary Cries will thicken your tone, help control signal peaks, lengthen sustain, and push your tone without losing definition or clarity. Depending on your settings, it can be used as a boost as well as a straightforward compressor.

FEATURES:

  1. Optical Compression: This pedal is an optical compressor, which means it uses an optical element (typically a light-dependent resistor or LDR) to control the compression ratio. Optical compressors are known for their smooth and transparent compression characteristics.

  2. Controls: The pedal offers typical compressor controls such as Sustain (compression amount), Level (output volume), and Attack (how quickly the compressor responds to the input signal). These controls allow you to shape your guitar's tone and dynamics.

  3. Blend Knob: One unique feature of the Mary Cries pedal is the Blend knob, which lets you mix your compressed signal with the dry signal. This feature is handy for maintaining the natural dynamics of your playing while still benefiting from compression.

  4. LED Indicator: There is likely an LED indicator to show when the pedal is engaged or to provide a visual representation of the compression level.

  5. True Bypass: Many PRS pedals, including this one, are known for their true-bypass switching, which ensures that when the pedal is turned off, it doesn't affect your guitar's tone.

  6. Quality Construction: PRS is known for its high-quality craftsmanship, and their pedals are typically built to the same standard as their guitars.

  7. Signature Design: The pedal might feature design elements that pay tribute to John Mayer's association with PRS, such as his signature on the enclosure or unique artwork.
